The Inspiration
'The Tragedy of the Commons' is a culmination of environmental anxieties and ecological catastrophes. This work is a reflection on the idea that the world as we know it will never be the same, each moment is fleeting, and danger is just around the corner.
In some panels, the impending change happens rapidly, as a brushfire, and in others, more slowly, as a drought, or loss of habitat. Each point of the compass rose reaches a corner in turmoil. A disaster can be viewed at any angle and in every fold.
How its made
Drawn by hand at scale, Morgaine used paper and pencil to finalized the line work before coloring the design digitally. These limited-edition 100% mulberry silk scarves are printed in Italy, and their hand-rolled hand-hems are finished right here in the USA.
